Travel bug bit early when Jane’s parents packed the family’s Triumph Herald with two children and a nanny and drove through France and over the Pyrenees for holidays in Spain. When Jane and her brother were adolescent their mother took them on a camping tour of America from Niagara to New Orleans where they bedded down in the alligator-rich Everglades. Later she travelled overland to India, via Afghanistan, on public transport (and one camel). More recently she caught dengue fever in Vietnam.
